Cholera in Nepal

An outbreak of cholera has been reported in Kathmandu. Cholera has been confirmed in 11 cases in one hospital and also other hospitals in Kathmandu. Large numbers of diarrhoeal cases have been treated in various hospitals in the capital within the last two weeks. Those confirmed to have cholera are from Kritipur, Sitapaila, Kalanki, Kalopul and other locations is the city.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population and cannot ensure safe drinking water can be immunised against cholera. A high standard of food, water and personal hygiene must be maintained whilst in Nepal.
