Cholera in Nigeria

05 July 2011

The Ministry of Health for the Plateau State has reported a cholera outbreak in some parts of the state.

Around 370 individuals have been affected and cases have been recorded in Jos South, Jos North, Mangu, Shendam, Barkin Ladi and Pankshin local government areas. The Health Ministry is working to improve the situation.

Advice for Travellers

Travellers to outbreak areas who will be mixing closely with the local population, and cannot ensure safe drinking water, can be immunised against cholera.
