Rescheduled UEFA Euro 2020 tournament

01 June 2021

The UEFA Euro 2020 football tournament was postponed in 2020 due to the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic. It has been rescheduled and will now take place between 11 June and 11 July 2021. The tournament is being held in eleven host cities across UK, Russia, Azerbaijan, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Romania, Hungary, Denmark and Spain.

UEFA have produced an official spectator event guide which contains detailed information about the event, travel information and COVID-19 mitigation health and safety measures for each host city and stadium.

Ticket holders will be required to agree to comply with the UEFA EURO 2020 code of conduct for spectators (PDF) which requires compliance with all applicable laws and government guidance for COVID-19.

Those planning on travelling to the event should be aware of any border entry restrictions and enforced requirements at the time of travel, which may include the obligation to quarantine and/or provide a negative COVID-19 test result. In some cases, entry to a host country from abroad may not be permitted at all. No exemptions will be made for Euro 2020 ticket holders.

Advice for travellers

International travel remains severely restricted, and guidance can change at short notice. Travellers should follow the latest travel guidance for either Scotland, England, Northern Ireland or Wales, depending on where they live.

In addition, and before booking any travel, all travellers should be advised to:

  • review the latest FCDO foreign travel guidance to determine any entry or quarantine requirements or if the host country is accepting foreign travellers.
  • review the traffic light system guidelines on returning to the UK
  • check the Risk of Exposure to Coronavirus (COVID-19) at their destination
  • check if they need a negative COVID-19 test or to prove their COVID-19 vaccination status to travel abroad
  • consider any other health issues or vaccination requirements
  • make sure they have valid travel insurance which will cover their trip including any issues caused by COVID-19

Detailed information on all of the above steps, including additional considerations that travellers should take both during and after travel are detailed in the fitfortravel COVID-19: Health Considerations for Travel page.

Travellers should be aware that any reciprocal healthcare agreements with the UK may have changed following Brexit:
