In January 2012, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced an interruption to the supply of Typherix® (Vi polysaccharide typhoid vaccine) and Hepatyrix® (hepatitis A and typhoid combined). This supply constraint is due to the establishment and accreditation of a new manufacturing facility and is not related to either a quality or safety issue with the vaccines.
Currently:
Hepatyrix® combined Hepatitis A (inactivated) and Typhoid polysaccharide vaccine (adsorbed) - GSK, is currently available for use in the UK. A consignment which was manufactured before the stock constraints were announced in 2011, has now been approved for release. It is anticipated that the consignment of around 300,000 doses will be depleted within 6 months.
The Hepatyrix® stock fully complies with the marketing authorisation and has remaining shelf life of at least 16 months as at December 2012, with the earliest expiry date being 31st March 2014.
Once this stock is depleted, Hepatyrix® will be out of stock until the fourth quarter 2014.
Typherix® - is now out of stock until the second quarter at the earliest, 2014.
Havrix Monodose® and Havrix Junior Monodose® - there are currently no supply constraints on these products.

Ongoing Vaccine Supplies
Typhim Vi® (Vi polysaccharide typhoid vaccine) - Sanofi Pasteur MSD, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) has approved the importation of Typhim Vi® from Norway and Belgium for use in the UK. These vaccines will be supplied in their Norwegian and Belgian packaging but will include a covering letter and patient information leaflet in English. The Norwegian vaccine is supplied in 10 dose multipacks and the Belgian vaccine in single dose units. The imported Typhim Vi® is identical to the UK vaccine but does not have a product license for the UK.
Avaxim® (hepatitis A vaccine) - Sanofi Pasteur MSD, currently there are no supply constraints on this product and customers are being supplied as normal.
ViATIM® (hepatitis A/typhoid vaccine) - Sanofi Pasteur MSD, currently there are supply constraints on this product.
Vaqta Paediatric® (hepatitis A vaccine) - Sanofi Pasteur MSD, currently there are no constraints on supply of this product.
