Cancer Research UK has released a press statement which highlights a serious increase in the number of cases of malignant melanoma (the most dangerous form of skin cancer) in UK men and women in their 50s.
Since the end of the 1970s, cases of malignant melanoma have risen from less than 500 cases annually to around 2000 per year. This indicates a 300% increase in 30 years and now more than 5 individuals in this age group per day are diagnosed with a potentially fatal cancer, if identified at a late stage.
