Hepatitis A Vaccination Recommendations (Update)

20 July 2018

Public Health England (PHE) have published additional information, as part of their Hepatitis A Infection: Prevention and Control Guidance

The Hepatitis A Vaccination Temporary recommendations for adults and children have been updated. Hepatitis A vaccine supplies are improving, particularly for paediatric monovalent and all combination Hep A/Hep B vaccine products, and are expected to improve further throughout 2018. As a result PHE recommendations have been modified to encourage the use of adult antigen rather than paediatric antigen content vaccines in adults, and paediatric vaccines in children where possible. However, as the UK’s full vaccine allocation will not be available from all manufacturers, the market is likely to remain constrained and these recommendations offer alternatives when the availability of monovalent adult hepatitis A vaccine is limited. Vaccine options for boosting primed adults and children is included in the document.
