Two new cases of wild poliovirus type 1 (WPV1) have been reported in the past week in Afghanistan. One case from Nangarhar province and one from Zabul province . The most recent case had onset of paralysis on 5 November in Kandahar district. The total number of WPV1 cases for 2014 in Afghanistan is now 23.
