16 May 2017 - Changes to Brazil and Peru Malaria Maps and Advice

The malaria advice and map for Brazil and Peru have recently been updated. This is following consideration by the Scottish Malaria Advisory Group (SMAG) after an extensive trawl of the available data.

In Brazil malaria risk is highest in the Amazon regions (Acre, Amazonas, Roraima) and Amapa. There is low to no risk in all other areas.

In Peru malaria risk is highest in the department of Loreto in the Amazon and there is low to no risk in all other areas.

In both countries there are pockets where antimalarials might be considered for certain risk groups who may be at higher risk of malaria.

Please see the malaria section of the Brazil and Peru country records for further details.
