TRAVAX Risk Assessment Page Updated

14 April 2016

Health Protection Scotland has reviewed and revised the Risk Assessment page on TRAVAX.

Carrying out a thorough risk assessment prior to travel abroad is the initial step in the travel consultation. It is also one of the most important, since it will provide the information on which future action will be based. It is also the basis for tailoring travel health advice, deciding whether immunisations should be advised, and determining malaria risk and appropriate malaria prevention strategies

The revised Risk Assessment page is essential reading for those new to Travel Medicine as it guides the reader through the process including: gathering information from the traveller, evaluating potential health risks and providing tailored advice for the traveller.

The revised page also links to the YouTube video showing viewers how to use the Suitcase to send advice sheets to the traveller and the RCN Competences: Travel Health Nursing.
