GlaxoSmithKline Acquires Novartis Travel Vaccines

16 March 2015

On 2 March 2015, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) acquired Novartis’ global vaccines business (excluding influenza vaccines).

This includes the licensed preparations used for travel:

  • IXIARO® (inactivated Japanese Encephalitis vaccine),
  • Menveo® (meningococcal group A, C, W-135, Y conjugate vaccine)
  • Rabipur® (rabies vaccine inactivated).

Also includes Bexsero®, licensed for immunisation against meningococcal group B.

According to GSK there are no current plans to change how these vaccines are ordered or supplied and health care professionals should proceed as usual.

  • GSK have posted a news item about the transition.
